Meet Mrs. Monroe

Hi! I’m Ashley Monroe, an elementary school teacher with over 15 years of experience working with students in grades 3–5. Teaching has always been my passion, and I love creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences that help kids build confidence, think creatively, and have fun while learning.

I created Curious Minds Camp to give students a place to explore, create, and discover in a small, supportive environment. My goal is for every child to leave camp excited, proud of what they’ve made, and eager to come back the next day.

Frequently
Asked

What is the daily schedule for the half-day camp?

Each session begins with a short welcome activity, followed by a hands-on learning block centered around the weekly theme. Campers will have time for a snack break and outdoor play (weather permitting) before wrapping up with a final creative activity.

Morning Session: 9:00–11:30 AM
Afternoon Session: 1:00–3:30 PM

Which age groups is Curious Minds Camp for?

Curious Minds Camp is designed for rising 2nd–4th graders. Activities are thoughtfully planned to be engaging, age-appropriate, and challenging in a fun and supportive environment.

What should my child bring each day?

Campers should bring a labeled water bottle and a nut-free snack each day. We recommend comfortable clothing that can get a little messy, especially during art and cooking activities. Sneakers are best for active play.

How are the weekly themes led?

All camps are led by Mrs. Monroe, a certified elementary school teacher with over 15 years of experience teaching grades 3–5. She is passionate about creating hands-on, engaging learning experiences where kids can build confidence, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

Safety

Camp is kept small (6–8 campers) to ensure close supervision and a safe, supportive environment. Activities are structured and age-appropriate, and all campers are supervised at all times.

Weekly Themes

Each week focuses on a different theme, such as LEGO building, art, escape room challenges, cooking, or inventing. Campers will participate in hands-on projects, team challenges, and creative activities that connect to the theme throughout the week. Themes will repeat throughout the summer but will have different activities within the same theme.

Cancellations

Full payment is required at the time of registration to reserve your child’s spot. Due to the small group size and limited availability, all registrations are considered final.

If you need to cancel your child’s spot:

  • Cancellations made at least 14 days before the start of the camp week will receive a 50% refund

  • Cancellations made less than 14 days before the start of camp are non-refundable

If your child is unable to attend, you may transfer the registration to another child of similar age with prior approval.

In the unlikely event that camp must be canceled, a full refund will be provided.

Where is Camp located?

Curious Minds Camp is held in a clean, safe, and welcoming home environment in the Fuquay-Varina area. The exact address will be shared with registered families prior to the start of camp.

We have a couple of very friendly dogs and cats in the home who are accustomed to being around children. They are gentle, well-behaved, and will be supervised or separated as needed to ensure all campers feel comfortable.

If your child has any allergies or concerns, please feel free to reach out so we can make appropriate accommodations.

What is the cost?

Each camp session is $180 per child and includes all materials and supplies for the week. Campers will participate in hands-on activities, creative projects, and themed challenges each day in a small-group setting. Full payment is required at the time of booking to reserve your child’s spot. Due to limited space, sessions fill quickly and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
